I discovered the bus on one of my walks through the village and was intrigued, so I had to come and stay! Jane was the perfect host, so welcoming but gave us the privacy to enjoy ourselves. The views are utterly breathtaking, and there really is almost complete silence apart from birdsong. The bus was thoughtfully laid out with everything we could possibly need. The wood burner was a great addition for the evening when the temperature dropped! Super comfy beds, clean and cosy! Highly recommend
We went to visit some friends in the village who recommended we stay on the 'bus on the hill'. They said the views were incredible from up there and we were not disappointed! Our host was so welcoming and once she showed us around we were left in private, knowing she was just a field / phone call away if we needed anything. Staying on a double decker bus is a unique experience at any time but it was made even more special by the spectacular views here. Looking across the valley we were mesmerised by the remoteness and the beauty. This bus is a hidden gem in the mid-Devon countryside. Despite the inclement weather on our stay, we watched the clouds rolling in, saw the mists rising, heard the rain on the roof and we loved snuggling down in front of the wood burner after exploring the area! We will be back, Sunshine or rain!
My husband and I were lucky enough to be some of the first guests to stay at the delightful Bus On The Hill. It was easy to find and we were immediately blown away by the outstanding views. There is ample room to sit outside and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside, but likewise the views from inside are stunning. We were delighted to find the host had provided us with some lovely locally sourced goodies for breakfast and the local village of Bampton has several shops that catered to the rest of our needs. The bus itself was roomier than you’d imagine from outside and we were extremely comfortable during our stay. We are very much looking forward to returning in the future.
The Bus on the Hill was an amazing, quirky place to stay. Waking up to the view from the top deck was such a special treat! We usually go out and about on a holiday, but we just couldn't drag ourselves away from the wonderful vistas. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We have totally recharged our batteries and even had a BBQ for breakfast. The hosts balanced a professional but friendly approach. And although they messaged to let us know we could get in touch if we needed anything, they didn't turn up (like some hosts do!) We would thoroughly recommend The Bus on the Hill if anyone is looking for an idyllic, off grid retreat. We can't thank Jane and Richard enough for letting us stay, and hopefully we'll be back again next year.
This is just perfect, the views are stunning. What better place to stay to relax and unwind and leave everything behind for a few days. Will be highly recommending the Bus on the Hill as the place to unwind. It has all you need so thank you — we will be back.
What a unique and beautiful place. It shows the time and love that has gone into refurbishing the bus on the hill.
